Cynthia Lewis
Sculptor

A member of the Society of Women Artists since 2007.
She carves in stone & wood, and models in wax for casting.

Like most mothers, I helped with art homework by providing an inspiring base to which they could add their own work. When they moved on, I continued because I enjoyed it so much.

Over time, I found inspiration of my own through photography, drawing, and craft. Eventually, these led me to Sculpture, which continues to engage me, and I find inspiration in daily life, art, music and travel.

I want my work to be admired and appreciated from all angles and directions. In my opinion, sculpture provides the ideal all-round experience for the viewer.

The space around and within the object has been created by the artist and is an important element to the whole. In the early 2000s, I was invited to join the Society of Women Artists an organisation on a par with the Royal Society, and have exhibited with it on several occasions.

Recently I was introduced to the EFOA and am enjoying their company and works.
